Update on Young knitters, new student, new feature

Let's catch up on some of my youngest students:
Faith brought a “critter” to share with all my other students:

This is a wonderful snake knit by her Mom’s grandmother when her Mom was 4 years old. What a treasure. It looks like she knit it in the round, stuffed it, added the adorable pink felt mouth and then added embroidery stitches on each colored stripe. I am sure it has been well loved. All of my classes enjoyed the snake visit and it elicited lots of childhood memories of things knit just for them by a loving Mom, aunt, or grand-mom!

And…ta da!!...Faith has finished 2 projects and has started on her 3rd.

--> Faith with her caterpillar and Knitty Kitty!

Update to the update!: Faith has made a 3rd project. It's a dear little purse. She made it for her sister for her First Communion. I helped her a bit on the finishing since we were on a "deadline". I know her sister will always treasure it.

In honor of the Olymics Megan knit this scarf for her American Doll dressed up as a skater (see the tiny skates!). Her grand-mom brought it to class to show us. Didn’t she do a great job??

Megan's doll's
name is Rebecca

Alex and Erica came for another lesson. They are making good progress on their caterpillars. Erica’s is using a pretty variegated yarn. Alex a fiery red…maybe it will be a dragon!! While they were knitting I read them a cute book about a knitting dinosaur and started another delightful book called Mr. Nick’s Knitting. We didn’t get to finish that one so I promised I’d save the place and we’d finish it at the next lesson. Being with them is lots of fun!

New Students:
Several new students signed up for the spring knitting classes. I have really enjoyed meeting them! It’s always so rewarding to get new knitters started on their knitting adventures. Several years ago I trained as a “Birthing Doula” which is a non-medical person who helps the Mom to be and the Dad during labor and delivery---a wonderful, miraculous experience. They do the hard work and I get to help them along. So, at times I feel like I’m a “Knitting Doula”!

Well dear students and knitters everywhere, I hope you are enjoying this lovely spring. Beauty and inspiration are all around us!! Below is a picture I took while at a wonderful women's retreat I attended this past Saturday. It was held at Aisling Retreat House...a lovely and peaceful setting. Ask me if you want more information about it...I can't wait to go there again next year!
