Some thoughts on color knitting and Slip Stitch Colors Workshop coming up!

I love the look of using different colors in a project but find some color techniques, such as intarsia and Fair Isle so time consuming, fiddly at times, and usually requiring quiet concentration time (something of which I have way too little of these days!).

This wonderful pattern for a jacket “painted” around the bottom with a New England village was one of the few intarsia designs that I actually took the time to make and really do love it!

Here is my student, Ebbie’s example of Fair Isle knitting. Isn’t it pretty?

Although I have used stripes as a way to bring color into my knitting, sometimes that doesn't seem quite challenging enough.

So, when I discovered slip stitch color knitting it was the perfect match for me and life "hectic". I believe it is the easiest way to make a beautiful color work design and…it looks very complicated to do. But it's not since you are only using one color per row but creating lovely motifs by slipping certain stitches and knitting other stitches. After designing and making several sweaters using the slip stitch color technique I decided to plan a workshop for the technique. I have given it several times over the years and think it's time to do it again!

Here is the information about the upcoming workshop:
