The weather here in Baltimore has been up and down and up
and down again!
Our back yard is
snow covered
and
our pond is frozen
over…
|
…A few days later
some flowers are blooming at the base of a
tree
in our front yard!
|
One Sunday at
church I saw
pussy willows out…
And the next Sunday
they were covered with snow!

I love the bare branches in winter.
We live in a “forest” and I can see the sky
better than I can during the other seasons:
Sunrises and
sunsets are so beautiful
during the winter.
|
And one night I
saw the full moon
through our forest
of trees!
I have been enjoying wrapping
up in cozy shawls this winter.
One of my favorites
is called “Mary’s Much Asked For Scarf”.
I named it that because several years ago, I was at a knitting
conference, and every few feet that I walked, someone would come up and ask me
for the pattern! To help you stay warm
for the rest of the winter, I’m going to share this pattern with you.
Think spring and summer, and be sure and make
some scarves using the same pattern using lighter weight yarn for wearing in
the warmer weather.
I'd like to share that pattern with you. You can download it at :

This winter also brought our
first Christmas with our little grandson Charlie. It was such fun! I’m not sure if he enjoyed the wrapping paper
or the gifts best…or maybe just the excitement of it all!
Also, this winter we heard
the exciting news that my niece Lucy is getting married in May. We are really looking forward to our trip to
Charlotte, North Carolina for that fun event!
Do you remember the Student
Project that I mentioned in my September, 2012 blog post? See it at http://bit.ly/Xs5J0t
When we began it looked like
this:
Now my students have finished the knitting and the
mystery continues…
As I promised my students as they did the knitting that I
would finish it off into something that they can all take turns using. Here are some pictures I took as I’ve been
making the surprise project:
Can you guess what it is?
Check my next blog post to find out!
I continue to “think
spring” with my spring knitting classes beginning on March 11.
Dear blog readers, how has your winter been? Even if you hate winter, try and remember
that the stark looking bare tree branches are right now holding the buds that
will become leaves and blossoms: the promise of new life, a wonderful thought
for those of us who have loved ones who have passed through the veil of death
and gone on to a wonderful New Life surrounded by Love.
Fondly, Mary
